Radio Avalon
Radio Avalon, hosted by Catt Sirten , is broadcast weeknights from 8pm until 12midnight on WHIL, 91.3fm, Radio Avalon is a musical montage of jazz, new age, world beat, celtic, trance, and many more genres. Described as a "musical mosaic", an oft-used term on the program is "how do you know you like it if you never hear it". It that way, Radio Avalon is a learning experience as well as an entertainment source.
A list of the music (playlist) played on Radio Avalon is constantly updated while the program is in progress. All program playlists are also available in the Radio Avalon Archive.
On air since 1995, Radio Avalon has undergone several name changes and host frequencies until it arrived at 91.3fm in August of 2002.
Radio Avalon increased listenership by over 400% in its first rating period on WHIL and three years later continues to break records and supply programming unavailable anywhere else on the dial.
The Radio Avalon Live Broadcast series boosts many area "firsts" in both technical and performance endeavors. The areas only remote broadcasts done using studio quality, digital technology has allowed Radio Avalon to broadcast live performances by the Mobile Symphony, the Mobile Pops, and many local and regional musical artists.
Radio Avalon's most recent endeavor to promote the areas musical artists is "The Podcast Projects". "Podcasts" are downloadable, Radio Avalon programs, featuring all original music from local and regional recording artists.
